Why use it
Encode or decode
Switch direction with one click — percent-encode unsafe characters or turn %20-style strings back into text.
Query-string mode
“Only parameters” keeps the base URL intact and encodes just what follows the ?.
Stays in your browser
Encoding runs locally in JavaScript, so tokens and private links never leave the page.
Great for
- Building API requests with special characters in query parameters
- Reading encoded redirect or tracking URLs
- Passing search terms or emails safely inside a link
How to use
Encode
- Paste a URL into the input, e.g.
https://koaris.com/?title=hello world. - Click Encode.
- Copy the result, or download it as a text file.
Decode
- Paste an encoded string into the input.
- Click Decode to get the readable URL back.
Good to know
Auto encode re-encodes as you type. Only parameters keeps the base URL intact and encodes just the query string — handy for UTM links and API requests.
Questions
How do I encode a URL online?
Paste the URL or text, click Encode, and copy the percent-encoded result. To encode only the query string of an otherwise valid URL, switch on “Only parameters” first.
Is this the same as encodeURIComponent?
Close. It percent-encodes the characters that are unsafe in a URL. Use “Only parameters” when the base URL is already valid and you just need the query string encoded.
How are spaces and + handled?
Spaces become %20. A literal + is kept as-is on decode, so an already-encoded string round-trips cleanly.
Does anything get sent to a server?
No. Encoding and decoding run entirely in JavaScript in your browser — your input never leaves the page.
