Choose an image

Click to choose an image, or drop one anywhere on the page

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF or BMP, up to 50 MB. Input support depends on your browser.

Percent scaling always keeps the aspect ratio. JPEG fills transparent areas with white; PNG and WebP preserve transparency. Animated inputs become a still image of their first frame.

Free · Private · Runs in your browser

Why use it

  • Scale or exact pixels

Resize by percentage with one slider or set an exact width and height, with or without locking the aspect ratio.

  • Preview before downloading

Compare the original and resized image side by side, with the resulting dimensions and file size.

  • Private resizing

Your image stays on your device. Resizing and downloads run entirely in your browser.

Great for

  • Fitting screenshots and photos into a fixed pixel size
  • Shrinking images for avatars, icons and thumbnails
  • Making a lighter preview version of a large photo

How to use

  1. Choose an image, or drop one anywhere on the page.
  2. Pick a resize mode: scale by percentage or set exact dimensions. Keep the aspect ratio locked or stretch freely.
  3. Select Resize image and review the preview with its new dimensions and file size.
  4. Select Download image to save the resized file.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and resized locally in your browser on a canvas. There is no image upload or server processing.
Which formats are supported?
Inputs include JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP, depending on what your browser can decode. Outputs are PNG, JPEG and WebP; the format menu only lists encoders supported by your browser. SVG, HEIC and HEIF are not supported.
How does the aspect ratio lock work?
When the dimensions mode is locked, changing either width or height updates the other so the image is scaled without distortion. Unlock it to set width and height independently and stretch the image.
What limits apply?
Files can be up to 50 MB with a decoded edge up to 8192 pixels and 16 megapixels; the resized output must also stay within 8192 pixels and 16 megapixels. Animated inputs become a still image of their first frame, and EXIF metadata is not copied to the output.
When should I use Image Resizer instead of Image Compressor?
Use Image Resizer when you need exact output dimensions, such as an 800×600 banner. Use Image Compressor when dimensions can stay the same and your goal is the smallest possible file.
