JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF or BMP, up to 50 MB. Input support depends on your browser.

PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with your background color. Animated inputs are converted to a still image of their first frame. Dimensions stay unchanged; very large images may need to be resized first.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and converted locally in your browser. There is no image upload or server conversion.
Which formats are supported?
Inputs include JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP, depending on what your browser can decode. Outputs are PNG, JPEG and WebP; the format menu only lists encoders supported by your browser. SVG, HEIC and HEIF are not supported by this tool.
Will the converted file always be smaller?
No. This tool converts to your chosen format even when the file becomes larger. PNG is lossless and can be much larger than a JPEG photo. Use Image Compressor when your goal is a smaller file.
What happens to transparency and animation?
PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with your chosen background color. Animated inputs are converted to a still image of their first frame.
Does it preserve dimensions and metadata?
Conversion preserves the decoded image dimensions and does not resize. Files can be up to 50 MB, 8192 pixels per edge and 16 megapixels; browser memory limits may be lower. Resize very large inputs with Image Compressor first. Original EXIF and other metadata are not copied to the output.
